Advocacy
Community engagement allows Queenslanders to have a say about policy, programs and services that can affect their lives. The Queensland Government engages with individuals and communities in a number of ways.
QCOSS Advocacy Kit
QCOSS has designed an advocacy kit designed to assist our members advocating to their candidates and elected representatives. QCOSS encourages members to participate in such advocacy at every possible opportunity. We also encourage members to consider clearly advocating the issues and solutions of direct benefit to disadvantaged people and build the reputation of the sector as focussed on improving the lives of people. This kit includes the following components:
- Paper 1 Introduction
- Paper 2 Defining the issues
- Paper 3 Defining objectives
- Paper 4 Writing a letter to your MP
- Paper 5 Meeting your MP Paper 6 Media skills

People can make a direct request to Parliament through a petition. A petition is placed before Parliament by a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the petitioners.
